How to Use AI to Create Content That Actually Gets Clients
Short answer: to create content with AI that actually gets clients, set your AI up with your voice and your strategy before you ask it to write anything. Feed it your real stories by talking rather than typing, plan content around your offer and your client's problems, batch a month in one sitting, and give every post a clear next step like a comment keyword. Always edit before posting so it sounds like you.

Most AI content is beige. You've seen it. Posts that say nothing, captions that sound like a corporate newsletter, carousels that could have been written by anyone about anything.
That's not because AI is bad at content. It's because most people use it with no setup, no strategy and no stories. Fix those three things and AI becomes the best content assistant you'll ever have.

Step 1: Teach AI your voice
Before you ask it to write a single post, give it something to learn from:
- Five to ten of your best posts, captions or emails
- Transcripts of you talking: lives, podcasts, voice notes, coaching calls (with permission)
- A short description of how you speak, the words you use and the words you never use
In Claude I keep all of this in a Project, so it's there every time. I've explained exactly how in How I Use Claude Projects to Run My Content.
Step 2: Give it your strategy
Content without strategy is just noise. Tell your AI:
- What you sell, who it's for and the result it gets
- Your client's problems, in their words
- The objections that stop people buying
- The beliefs people need before they're ready to buy
Every piece of content should do one of three jobs: get you seen, build trust or make the sale. Ask AI to label each idea with the job it's doing so your month is balanced. If you've got loads of content and not many sales, read You Don't Have a Content Problem, You Have a Visibility Problem
Step 3: Talk, don't type
This is the secret. Voice note your idea the way you'd explain it to a client, then ask AI to turn it into a carousel, a caption, a talking head script and an email. Your stories, your opinions and your little phrases come through, and that's what makes it sound like you.
Prompt to copy
Here's a voice note transcript of me explaining an idea. Turn it into: 1) a 7 slide carousel with a strong hook, 2) a caption under 200 words ending with a comment keyword, 3) a 45 second talking head script. Keep my words and stories. Don't add anything I didn't say. Use British spelling and no em dashes.
Step 4: Batch it and add a next step
Plan the month, then create it in one sitting. I've got whole posts on this: 30 Pieces of Content in 30 Minutes and How to Plan a Month of Content.
Then make sure every post gives people something to do. Comment a keyword for a free guide. Reply to a story. Book a call. Join the waitlist. Content that doesn't lead anywhere doesn't get clients.
My editing rule
Read every post out loud before it goes up. If you wouldn't say it, change it. Cut anything that sounds clever but says nothing, and add one real example from your own life or business.
What kind of content gets clients?
- Talking head videos. Nothing builds trust faster than people seeing and hearing you. More in The Trust Economy: Why Talking Head Videos Sell.
- Stories. Your journey, your mistakes and what you learnt. See Storytelling Formulas for Written Posts That Sell.
- Carousels that teach. One clear lesson, step by step, ending with a next step.
- Behind the scenes. Show the work, the process and the real you.
- Proof. Real client wins and testimonials, shared with permission.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI write content in my voice?
Yes, if you set it up properly. Give it examples of your writing, transcripts of you talking and a description of how you speak. Then edit everything before you post it.
Is it OK to use AI for social media content?
Yes. Lots of successful business owners use AI for first drafts. What matters is that the ideas, stories and opinions are yours, and that you check everything before it goes out.
What's the best AI for writing content?
I use Claude for content because it's very good at matching my voice. ChatGPT and Gemini work well too. Your setup matters far more than which tool you pick.
