Privacy Policy
LEGAL
Last updated: 3rd October 2026
The short version. We collect the information you give us when you sign up, buy, apply or get in touch, plus some technical data when you use the website. We use it to deliver what you've asked for, run the business and (only if you've agreed or it's allowed by law) send you marketing. We never sell your data. You can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time by emailing [email protected].
1. Who we are
This website, www.laurieburrows.com, is run by Laurie Burrows LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13162678, with its registered office at Bankside 300 Peachman Way, Broadland Business Park, Norwich, Norfolk, NR7 0LB, United Kingdom.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Laurie Burrows LTD. "You" means anyone who visits our website, joins our email list, buys from us, applies to work with us or otherwise gets in touch.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide how and why your data is used, and we are responsible for looking after it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
Ascendia OS is run by a separate company, Ascendia OS Ltd, which has its own privacy policy. If you use Ascendia OS, that policy applies to your use of the software.
2. How to contact us
For anything to do with your personal data, email [email protected] and put "Privacy Request" in the subject line, or write to: Privacy, Laurie Burrows LTD, Bankside 300 Peachman Way, Broadland Business Park, Norwich, Norfolk, NR7 0LB.
3. The information we collect
Information you give us
- Identity and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, business name, social media handle and country.
- Purchase and billing details: what you've bought, payment plan, billing address, and transaction records. Card details are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Application and onboarding details: information you share when applying for or joining a programme, such as your business, revenue, goals, challenges and budget.
- Client work details: where we work on your business with you, the information and account access you give us so we can deliver the work.
- Communications: emails, DMs, voice notes, form submissions, survey answers, feedback, testimonials and anything you post in our communities or programmes.
- Call and session content: live calls, coaching sessions and workshops may be recorded so members can watch them back. We'll always tell you when a session is being recorded.
Information we collect automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, operating system, pages viewed, referring site and time spent on pages.
- Course and email activity: which lessons you've completed, log-in activity, and whether you open or click our emails.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see section 11 and our Cookie Policy.
Information from other sources
- Payment providers (to confirm a payment went through or failed), affiliate partners (to confirm who referred you), and social media platforms (if you message us or engage with our ads or content).
We don't ask for special category data (such as health information). Please don't share it with us unless it's genuinely needed. If you choose to share it, for example to request an accessibility adjustment, we'll only use it for that purpose and with your explicit consent.
4. How we use your information and our lawful bases
We can only use your personal data when the law allows it. Here is what we use it for and the lawful basis we rely on.
| What we use it for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Delivering products, courses, programmes, events, coaching and done-for-you services you've bought, including account access, onboarding and support | Contract |
| Taking payments, managing payment plans, chasing failed payments and issuing receipts | Contract, and legitimate interests (recovering money owed) |
| Sending free resources, trainings or downloads you've signed up for | Contract (you asked for it) and consent |
| Sending marketing emails about our products, events and offers | Consent, or the "soft opt-in" under PECR if you've bought from us or enquired about something similar (you can unsubscribe at any time) |
| Reviewing applications to work with us | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Answering your questions and messages | Legitimate interests (running our business and helping you) |
| Recording live calls so members can watch them back | Contract and legitimate interests |
| Running our website, keeping it secure and fixing problems | Legitimate interests (a recognised legitimate interest where it relates to security) |
| Understanding how the website is used so we can improve it | Legitimate interests, and consent where PECR requires it |
| Showing you relevant ads on social media and measuring how ads perform | Consent |
| Sharing your testimonial, results or screenshots publicly | Consent (we'll always ask first, and you can withdraw it) |
| Keeping accounting and tax records, and complying with the law | Legal obligation |
| Dealing with complaints, disputes, chargebacks and legal claims | Legitimate interests and legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed our interests against yours and only go ahead where your rights don't override them. You can ask us for more detail on this.
We only use your data for the purpose we collected it for, or for a purpose that is compatible with it. If we need to use it for a new, unrelated purpose, we'll tell you first.
5. Email marketing
If you join our list, download a free resource, register for an event or buy from us, we may send you emails about our content, products, events and offers. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be removed. Unsubscribing from marketing won't stop us sending you service emails you need, like receipts, log-in details and programme updates.
Our emails may contain tracking pixels that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to improve our emails and keep our list healthy.
6. Artificial intelligence tools
We use AI tools in our business, for example to help draft content, summarise call notes and analyse information you share with us when we're working on your business. When we do this, we use business accounts that don't train their models on your data where that option is available, we only share what is needed for the task, and a human always reviews the output. We don't make decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you based solely on automated processing.
If you use an AI assistant or chat tool on our website, what you type is processed by the AI provider to generate a response. Please don't enter sensitive personal information into it.
7. Who we share your information with
We never sell or rent your personal data. We only share it with trusted organisations that help us run the business, and only as much as they need. They are only allowed to use it on our instructions and must keep it secure. These include:
- Website, course and email platform: Kajabi (hosts our website, courses, community, checkout and emails).
- Payment processing: Kajabi Payments, which is powered by Stripe, and any other payment provider shown at checkout.
- Analytics and advertising: Google (Analytics and Tag Manager) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). See our Cookie Policy.
- Video and calls: video hosting such as Wistia, and video call and messaging tools we use to deliver sessions.
- Business software: our CRM and funnel software (including Ascendia OS), email and document storage (such as Google Workspace), scheduling, project management and AI tools.
- Our team and contractors: people who help deliver our programmes and client work. Some are based outside the UK. Everyone signs confidentiality agreements before accessing client information.
- Professional advisers: our accountants, lawyers, insurers and banks, where needed.
- Authorities: HMRC, the police, regulators or courts, where the law requires us to.
- A buyer of our business: if we ever sell or restructure all or part of our business, your data may be transferred to the new owner, who must use it in line with this policy.
Where you share information in a group programme, community or live call, other members will be able to see it. Please think about what you share in these spaces.
8. International transfers
Some of our suppliers and team members are based outside the UK, including in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it's protected by at least one of the following: the country has been approved by the UK Government as having adequate protection (this includes US companies certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework); or we use the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses; or another safeguard permitted by UK data protection law. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards we use.
9. How long we keep your information
| Type of information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Purchase, invoice and payment records | 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to (required for tax purposes) |
| Customer account and course access | For as long as you have access to the product, then up to 6 years |
| Client work files and account access | For the length of the work, then access is removed. Files are kept for up to 6 years in case of a dispute |
| Marketing list | Until you unsubscribe. We may remove inactive contacts after 2 years. We keep a record that you unsubscribed so we don't email you again |
| Applications that don't go ahead | 12 months |
| General enquiries and messages | 2 years |
| Call recordings | For as long as the programme or product they belong to is available |
| Testimonials | Until you ask us to remove them |
| Cookies | See our Cookie Policy |
When we no longer need your data, we securely delete it or anonymise it.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete your data in certain circumstances.
- Restrict how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Object to us using your data based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
- Data portability: get the data you gave us in a commonly used format, or have it sent to someone else.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
- Not be subject to solely automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you, and to ask for human review.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected] with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. It's free in most cases. We may need to confirm your identity first. We'll respond within one month, which can be extended by up to two more months for complex requests (we'll let you know if so). When searching for your data, we'll carry out reasonable and proportionate searches.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. Some are essential to make the site and checkout work, some help us understand how the site is used, and some are used for advertising. Full details, including the cookies we use and how to control them, are in our Cookie Policy.
12. Keeping your information safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including using reputable platforms that encrypt data, password and access controls, limiting access to people who need it, and confidentiality agreements with our team. No system is completely secure, but if a data breach happens that is likely to put your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) where the law requires us to.
13. Children
Our website, products and services are for adults running or starting a business. They are not aimed at anyone under 18 and we don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has given us their data, please contact us and we'll delete it.
14. Other websites
Our website and emails link to other websites and platforms, such as social media and partner products. We aren't responsible for how they handle your data, so please read their privacy policies.
15. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, please tell us first by emailing [email protected] with "Data Protection Complaint" in the subject line. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it properly and let you know the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.
If you live in the European Economic Area, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
16. Changes to this policy
We review this policy regularly and will update it when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we'll let you know by email or with a notice on the website.
