Is AI Going to Replace Coaches?
Short answer: no, AI isn't going to replace coaches, but it is replacing coaches who only sell information. AI can answer questions, write content and help people implement faster than ever. What it can't replace is you: your lived experience, your personality on camera, your judgement and the trust people place in a real human. The coaches who thrive will audit their offer, turn information into implementation, use AI inside their offers and their business, and put more of themselves into their marketing, not less. The step by step plan is below.
I get asked this question a lot. Usually by someone who's just watched AI write a week of content in ten seconds and had a small wobble about whether there's still a place for them.
I understand the worry. I've built AI products. I've launched a software company. I use AI every single day. And I can tell you, from right in the middle of it, that AI is changing coaching. It's just not changing it in the way most people fear.
This is part of my ultimate guide to building a custom AI for your business, which shows you how to put your expertise into an AI product of your own.
What AI is already doing in coaching
- It answers questions instantly. The questions your clients used to save for the next group call, they can now ask an AI at 11pm.
- It helps people implement. It doesn't just explain what to do. It can help create the thing.
- It creates content at scale. Anyone can now produce 100 posts in an afternoon.
I turned my own expertise into a custom AI trained on my frameworks, methods and programmes. Clients get instant answers and help implementing, like having me in their pocket, without me answering hundreds of questions a day. It sold at four figures, got over 100 sign-ups and brought in six figures in new sales. So I'm not anti AI. Far from it.
So which coaches should be worried?
The ones whose offer is just information. People are tired of courses and programmes. They've bought plenty. They're overloaded with information, and many still feel stuck. AI makes that even more obvious, because information is now free and instant. What people want now is implementation over information. If your offer is "here are 40 videos, good luck", AI is a real threat. If your offer helps people actually get the result, with your judgement, support and experience, you're in a stronger position than ever.

What AI can't replace
AI can't replace how you show up, your personality or you on camera. And yes, AI videos exist, but have you ever made one of yourself? They're nothing like you. You can usually tell from the mouth and the lack of expression, or the over expression. It also can't replace:
- Lived experience. People want to learn from someone who has actually been through it.
- Trust. We're in a trust recession. Plenty of buyers have been burned, so they're choosing very carefully who they invest in.
- Relationships. Guest speaking, podcasts, collaborations, networking. That has to be you.
- Conversations. Adding personal conversations to your sales process increases conversion rates, because people want to know there's a human on the other side.
The real risk isn't AI replacing you. It's you sounding like everyone else. When everybody can pump out unlimited content, content stops being what makes you stand out. You do.
How to make yourself irreplaceable, step by step
Step 1: Audit your offer for information vs implementation
List every part of your main offer: modules, videos, PDFs, calls, templates, community, support. Next to each, write I (information: it tells them) or D (doing: it helps them actually do it). If most of your list is I, that's your risk.
Time: 30 minutes. Done when: every part of your offer is labelled I or D, and you know your ratio.
Step 2: Turn your biggest information block into implementation
Pick the largest I item and change it into a D: add an action step, a template they fill in, a done with you session, a tool, or a custom AI trained on your method that helps them build the thing. I go deep on this in the ultimate guide to building a custom AI for your business.
Time: one to two weeks. Done when: one module now ends with something your client has created, not just watched.
Step 3: Decide what AI does and what you keep
Here's my split. AI gets: brainstorming (I voice note a brain dump and ask it to pull out content ideas), repurposing (my call and training transcripts become content and free resources), planning and assets (launch plans, emails, copy, which is exactly why I built Ascendia OS) and delivery support (custom AI that helps clients implement). I keep: being on camera, guest speaking, building relationships and the conversations that turn a lead into a client.

Time: 20 minutes. Done when: you have two written lists: AI does / I do.
In Ascendia OS, that AI does list is a team. The Strategist plans what to sell and when, the Content Creator writes posts in your voice and schedules them, and the Copywriter writes your sales pages, launch emails and DMs. You approve the work, and your time goes on everything on your I do list.
Step 4: Set AI up to sound like you
Generic prompts give generic content. Give your AI your own material: your transcripts, your frameworks, your stories, examples of posts that sound like you. Then it drafts and you edit, rather than it inventing and you posting. If you want to see how I do it, read how to use Claude to create content and 30 pieces of content in 30 minutes with AI.
Time: two to three hours to set up. Done when: AI drafts a post that you'd only need to tweak, not rewrite.
Step 5: Get on video every week
Talking head video is one of the strongest trust builders you have right now. People need to see your face, hear your voice and feel your energy. If you look at my Instagram, it's pretty much all me on video now, for exactly this reason.
Time: one batch session a month. Done when: you have a talking head video scheduled for every week.
Step 6: Lead with your story and your mission
AI can write pain and gain posts all day. It can't write your story. Share why you do this work, what you believe and what you've been through. You're a personal brand, and a lot of the time you are the reason people buy.
Time: one hour. Done when: you've written and posted one mission post using the template below.
Step 7: Build your reputation through visibility
With more competition and less trust than ever, reputation is your edge. The more people who know you, the more credibility you have, and credibility equals trust. Set yourself one thing to do daily, weekly and monthly to get visible: for example, engaging with ideal clients daily, a guest spot weekly, a collaboration monthly.
Time: 15 minutes to plan. Done when: your daily, weekly and monthly visibility actions are in your diary.
Step 8: Keep humans in your sales process
Automate what you like, but keep the moments that matter personal. A DM asking what someone thought of your free training. A voice note before a live event. A real conversation before someone invests.
Time: 20 minutes a day. Done when: every engaged lead this week has had a personal message from you.
Worked example: a $1,997 course in an AI world
Example only. A coach sells a $1,997 course: 40 videos, 6 PDFs and a monthly group call. Her audit:
| Part | Type | Change |
|---|---|---|
| 40 videos | I | cut to 12 short lessons, each ending with an action step |
| 6 PDFs | I | turned into 6 fill in templates |
| Questions between calls | I (waiting a month) | a custom AI trained on her method, available any time |
| Monthly group call | D | kept, now focused on hot seats and reviewing what people built |
| Sales | automated emails only | added a personal DM to every engaged lead |
Same price, same expertise, but now the offer helps people actually do it. That's something a free chatbot answer can't compete with. She could even offer the custom AI on its own at a lower price for people who can't invest in working with her directly yet, with her course and support above it.
Copy and paste templates
Copy and paste: offer audit
Part of my offer | Information or Doing? | How could this help them actually do it?
[Module 1] | [I / D] | [action step / template / tool / custom AI / done with you]
[Module 2] | [I / D] | [ ]
Copy and paste: AI brain dump prompt
Here is a voice note transcript of me talking about [topic]. Pull out every content idea in it. For each one, give me a hook in my words, the main point, and which of my stories or frameworks it connects to. Don't add anything I didn't say.
Copy and paste: mission post
Why I do this work: [your story in two or three sentences].
When [who] gets [result], it's not just [surface result]. It's [what changes in their life].
AI can tell you what to do. I'm here to help you actually do it. [call to action]
Benchmarks and proof points
- Four figures, over 100 sign-ups, six figures in new sales: what my custom AI product did.
- 25% vs 2.5%: live attendees vs overall conversion. Human presence still sells.
- 10 to 12%: my launch conversion with action steps every day, against an industry average of 3%.
- Daily, weekly, monthly: one visibility action at each level.
Common mistakes
- Mistake: Ignoring AI and hoping it goes away. Fix: use it to save time and inside your offer.
- Mistake: Posting whatever the chatbot writes. Fix: feed it your own material and edit everything.
- Mistake: Selling more information. Fix: turn information into implementation.
- Mistake: Hiding behind text. Fix: get on video every week.
- Mistake: Automating the sales conversation. Fix: keep humans in the moments that matter.

Frequently asked questions
Will AI replace life coaches and business coaches?
Not the ones who help people get results. AI is replacing information, not lived experience, judgement, trust and relationships. Coaches who only sell information are most at risk.
Will people still pay for coaching when AI is free?
Yes, but they'll be pickier. Nobody will pay four figures for an answer they can get free from a chatbot. They'll pay for a proven method, someone who has done it, support when they get stuck and a result they couldn't get alone.
How should coaches use AI?
For brainstorming, repurposing, planning and assets, and inside your offer to help clients implement. Keep video, relationships and sales conversations human.
Can I use AI for content without sounding generic?
Yes, if you give it your own material: transcripts, stories, frameworks and examples of your writing. Let it draft, then edit so it sounds like you.
Should I build a custom AI for my coaching business?
If clients ask you the same questions again and again, or need help implementing between sessions, a custom AI trained on your methods can support them and even become its own lower priced offer.
